Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullah,
I’ve spent the last 15 years working in finance advising families, building real estate portfolios, and helping high-net-worth individuals pursue wealth with purpose. But one conversation changed everything.
A few months ago, I picked up the phone and called Osama Estwani, founder of Ikhlas Insurance Group. My first question was simple but telling: “What is Sharia-compliant life insurance?”
As someone deeply embedded in finance, I had never seen it offered. That question led to a conversation, which led to conviction—then eventually to partnership.
Today, I’m proud to say I’ve officially joined the Ikhlas Insurance team to help expand this vital service—starting in Houston, but with national ambition. This isn’t just about insurance. This is about unlocking halal wealth for our community, building legacy, and aligning our faith with our financial futures.
Let’s be honest: in many Muslim households, the topic of life insurance is either taboo, misunderstood, or ignored altogether.
But as Osama Estwani shared on our podcast:
“How many GoFundMe’s do we see in our community after a death? How many families lose their breadwinner and are left not only grieving but scrambling for support? This is a burden we can prevent.”
That hit me hard.
Wealth isn't just about growth it's about protection. It’s about removing uncertainty for your spouse, your children, your parents. And when done right, with scholarly backing and sincere intention, life insurance becomes a halal tool in building a secure future.
The name Ikhlas wasn’t chosen by accident. It’s a word that means sincerity and it represents the culture behind the company.
“We didn’t name it for the clients,” Osama told me. “We named it for us, the founders, the agents. So that every day we’re reminded: this work is for the sake of Allah. That sincerity has to shine through every call, every meeting, every decision.”
That mindset shows in how the business is run. At Ikhlas, there’s no hard selling. No pressure tactics. Instead, the focus is on education and trust. The team spends time walking each family through their options, answering questions, and most importantly honoring their faith.
And yes, it’s not just Muslims who benefit. “We have hundreds of non-Muslim clients,” Osama said. “They don’t care what our name is they care how we treat them. And our service speaks volumes.”
One of the most common questions we get is: “Is life insurance even halal?”
The answer: not always. But Ikhlas only offers what has been vetted and approved by top scholars most notably, Shaykh Joe Bradford, a globally respected Islamic finance expert.
“We show Shaykh Joe everything,” Osama explained. “Some products would make our life easier. They’d speed up applications, improve commissions but if he says no, it’s a no. Period.”
This isn’t lip service. Osama shared that 95% of the products they bring to Shaykh Joe get rejected. “So when he approves something,” Osama told me, “you can be confident it meets a strict Shariah standard.”
That’s peace of mind money can’t buy. And it’s exactly what our community has been waiting for a halal option backed by integrity, not marketing.
Like many entrepreneurs, Osama didn’t set out to build a company. He set out to serve.
Born in Virginia to Syrian immigrant parents, Osama grew up in a household shaped by Islamic values and community service. His father a sheikh and successful Quran publisher—was a man of vision and generosity.
“He never took a penny from the masjid,” Osama said. “He gave from his wealth, and he gave his time. That shaped how I see money today. Wealth is written for us by Allah but we have to pursue it with effort and trust.”
That mindset became the seed of Ikhlas Insurance. After years working in the industry, Osama was frustrated by the sales-first culture of traditional insurance firms. He wanted something ethical, community-oriented, and spiritually grounded.
So he teamed up with childhood friends Khalid Kamel Malz (CFO) and Abdul Rahman Olabi (CTO) to build something different.
Today, Ikhlas is more than a business. It’s a brotherhood. And now, it's a nationwide movement with over 100 agents serving families across the U.S.
When I met the Ikhlas team, I knew this was bigger than just insurance. It was about faith, family, and finance the three pillars I live by.
That’s why I didn’t just sign up for a policy. I signed up to lead the Houston division of Ikhlas Insurance.
Together, we’re building a team of mission-driven professionals people who want to earn halal income, serve their communities, and become part of a movement that empowers families with financial literacy and protection.
And trust me, the opportunity is massive. With underserved Muslim communities in every major city, there’s a huge demand for trusted, faith-aligned solutions. This is the front line of halal wealth building.
Ikhlas isn’t just about clients. It’s about careers.
As Osama said:
“Most people who get into insurance are thrown into the deep end. At Ikhlas, we walk with you step-by-step. We hold your hand until you succeed because your success is our success.”
That’s why agents are thriving. In under a year, many are earning life-changing income—while still making time for family, prayer, and service. It’s flexibility and fulfillment. It’s income with intention.
And if you’ve ever considered a career pivot, this might be your moment.
If you’re a high-income professional or a business owner who cares deeply about ethical finance this is your call to action.
If you’re tired of putting off that conversation about protection this is your moment.
And if you’ve been praying for a way to align your income with your faith this is your opportunity.
